It’s the wedding we’ve been waiting for. Marc and Dani are one of the funniest couples I’ve ever met. You may remember their famous engagement shoot and roller skating stop motion save-the-date video.
Dani is an amazing designer and artist so I new there would be some really cool details at her wedding but I was blown away. She made her bouquet out of what seemed like a bunch of unique antique broaches (it weighed like 8 lbs) and was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. Her bridesmaids bouquets and groomsman’s corsages had matching sterling silver bases with feathers, really cool!
The hotel rooms at the Study at Yale are beautiful with a great view but when it was time for me to photograph the dress I found there was absolutely no place to hang it anywhere. I was going to hang it from the sprinkler but I had a flash in my mind of setting it off and ruining Dani’s designer dress.
It’s been almost 3 years since I’ve been in the position to walk through a city with a bride. There is such an interesting dynamic that goes on when a bride walks through a city. Lots of horn honking, everyone watching and congratulating. Luckily it was only 3 blocks from The Study at Yale to The Union League Cafe.
As Dani was being escorted down the aisle by her father you could see in her face that she was holding back the tears. Well, the moment she made it all the way down the aisle she let out the funniest sound as she burst into tears. It seemed that just as Dani composed herself that Marc let out a snort! Followed immediately by saying “I Just Snorted”! and for the next few minutes Marc talked to (and apologized to) the guests who were laughing hysterically. Once the ceremony got back under way everything went smoothly and after the kiss Marc high-fived everyone on his way down the aisle.
When it was time for pictures we just went for a short walk around Yale. As we turned into a Yale courtyard there was a large Asian tour group that “OOHed and AHHed” and took lots of pictures as we walked by. On our way back to The Union League I noticed some interesting construction and signage on the opposite side of the street where we were walking so I sent Marc and Dani over to lean against the jersey barrier. The first time they can running back before the cars started coming but the second time they hung on too long and had to hop over to avoid the bus that was coming by.
The reception was just plain fun. The junior bridesmaid didn’t stop dancing the entire night, not for a minute! And what is a great night without karaoke?
Congratulations Marc + Dani!
